Litecoin network guide for LTC exchanges
Litecoin moves native LTC through a UTXO blockchain with address formats and confirmation rules distinct from Bitcoin. Same-looking concepts do not make BTC and LTC addresses interchangeable.

Native LTC and UTXOs
Network identity
LTC is native to Litecoin. Transactions spend unspent outputs and create new outputs, including change. Token representations of LTC on EVM networks are separate assets.
Address rules
Modern wallets can provide ltc1 addresses, while supported legacy formats can begin with L or M. Copy the destination from a wallet that explicitly labels Litecoin mainnet.
Fee mechanism
Fees are paid in LTC and depend on transaction size and wallet policy. Consolidating many small UTXOs can increase size even when Litecoin fees are often lower than Bitcoin fees.
Settlement
Litecoin targets faster blocks than Bitcoin, but exchanges still apply route-specific confirmation requirements. The total also includes conversion and payout time.
Memo or tag
Native Litecoin transfers normally use an address without a memo or tag. Do not paste an MWEB-only or unsupported private address when the provider expects a standard mainnet address.
Tokens and representations
LTC on Litecoin mainnet differs from tokenized LTC on BNB Smart Chain or another network. MWEB transfers also require explicit wallet and provider support.

What usually goes wrong
Users can confuse a Litecoin address with a Bitcoin address because both use related UTXO concepts. Wallet validation should prevent many errors, but the network label must still be checked.

Follow both legs of the route
For LTC to BTC, the source wallet sends native Litecoin to an LTC address. The payout is a separate Bitcoin transaction to a Bitcoin address; the exchange is not an on-chain Litecoin transfer to Bitcoin.

No. Use a Litecoin-mainnet address for an LTC deposit and a separate exchange route for conversion to BTC.

Do not assume so. Use MWEB only when the live provider route explicitly identifies support.
Why can an LTC transaction still be pending?
The provider can be waiting for detection or its required confirmations even after the wallet broadcasts the transaction.
